The idea behind the World Aids Orphans' Day (WAOD) is to focus public and mediaattention on the distress of these vulnerable children and the consequencesof their social and economic exclusion and to lobby governments toconsider these vulnerable children as a priority and ensure that urgentmeasures are taken to reintegrate them back into their society.
